Cognito / Props & Characters Concept Art

Cognito is a concept art project where I design a fictional order of monks dedicated to the study of the natural world.

This is a collection of prop designs to create depth and showcase some of the everyday tools used by the monks. They would copy and catalog existing manuscripts but also produce their own books to fill out their large libraries.

The telescope that I designed technically is anachronistic but I liked those designs so much that I thought it would be entertaining to imply that they are so advanced that they managed to create one to observe the stars.

Character designs are here to imply some kind of hierarchy between the monks. There are cardinal looking ones who take up the role of overseers. Once again, I preferred to remain simple so they don't look too dark fantasy rpg-ish.
